A Bon Voyage Meeting

A surprise bon voyage meeting! We sang King Tut, had an intepretive reading of a Jackie Ode, ate delicious nibblies, reviewed camel safety precautions, and in general had a darn good meeting! Thank you for the surprise and for the school goodies - they will be much appreciated by the children we visit on this trip! Shukran!

What Have I Done?

The skirt arrived. It is black, looks like the one on the tall model at this web site, except that the model is much, much too slender! It's too cold for me to be thinking 'sandals' and my shoes just don't look right under this skirt - they look huge! With the shoes you wear socks. Pants, not a problem who cares what color you are wearing. Now I need to match my wardrobe pieces. The long sleeve sunshirt over a T, contributes to the perspective of a walking A-frame. Prada ain't going on this trip! I hope the "what not to wear" fans are looking the other way when I arrive. :-)

Packing a duffel of spring time

Wandering the Iris gardens in May, on a warm, sunny day. I'm using this picture to try and remind myself what that kind of day is like. With the weather hovering around 30-35F. is it hard to envision packing something other than my fleece and jeans for this trip. I look at the thin lightweight, quick-dri pants/skirt and Ts and wonder if I will be warm enough. A friend said it will be like June here in Oregon - I don't remember what that feels like right now, as I put another log on the fire.

So I'll contemplate this view of Spring, with a blanket across my lap, sipping a hot cup of tea and imagine. Then go pack'er up.

Countdown Egypt!

Less than 30 days to go before we depart for warmer weather. Today, it started out at 19 F. and has gotten up to about 35 F. Egypt locations should vary between 65-85 F. Use Egypt Weather to find out what the temperature is like over there right now!

New camera arrived last week. I've been making it through the manual and snapping lots of pix of the cats in trying this thing out. It will cover 28-300mm, is lightweight and all in one digital. Works great! No more hassling with the film at the xray machines in the airports.

And finally, my last clothing purchase was made online. Probably don't need anything, but what better reason to go shopping than global travel? Check it out - the first skirt I may wear in about 15 years - funky, versatile, lightweight, wrinkle-free, culturally sensitive.

We will be seeing many infamous sites - see Itinerary for details.

Two years ago, when I started this blog, gas prices were high. Only higher now! Use Gas Buddy to find cheap gas in your area. Another benefit of visiting this little blog.
