Red Nose Day2017

We visited the Art of the Brick at OMSI today, which is Red Nose Day 2017 too. The exhibit was stunning in its creativity and imagination by the artist (who just happens to be from Portland). Here is a Red Nose Day collage.

Native Oregon Iris

Found this clump at Rock Creek State Park. I've never noticed them before; probably just timed the trip right today. Called Iris tenax, it is native to Willamette Valley and surrounding area.



As it says at this website, “Tenax” means tenacious and indeed the leaves were renowned for their strength. Natives used them for rope.  No harvesting allowed in this place!

I went in for only 1 thing. That blossomed into this box. How does that happen?!
