Work trip to Bend

Came to Bend for an overnighter, training in the morning. Had dinner at Kebaba - delicious. Highly recommend. I had Curried Tempeh Salad: Hood River soy tempeh, mixed with an apricot curry dressing, celery, scallions, cashews and raisins. Served on a bed of lettuce with seasonal vegetables. Michelina had Mediterranean Manakeesh: Hot Middle Eastern flat bread topped with a blend of spinach, sundried tomatoes, Greek green olives and pine nuts Topped with imported feta and mozzarella cheeses.
We surveyed the geography of District 10 from atop Pilot Butte, and saw the smoke from a nearby wild fire (which was contained). Here is a view from my motel room looking out on the Deschutes River.

And we finished our work by debriefing the training at Pine Tavern Restaurant which is celebrating it's 75th birthday. I had a PineTavern Steak Salad: Flame broiled steak, sliced avocado, crisp bacon, grape tomatoes, slivered almonds on greens tossed with bleu cheese vinaigrette - it was more beef than I've eaten all year. But, very good!
