HIke At Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey

Went hiking with couple friends at the local Trappist Abbey. They have 1,300 acres of grassland and forest. It includes a hike up to about 1100 ft with views of the valley below. There is a shrine to St Mary at the top. The hike is about 1.5 miles. All going up!

The monks have done a conservation easement with BPA that will hopefully guarantee the sustainable conservation of their property, forever.

If you go, you stop in at the Reception Office first which doubles as the gift shop. The books they have on hand to sell are really a good selection of many topics - including spirituality, people skills, and much more. Plus they sell their famous Fruitcake here too.

The map given you at the Reception Office is sort of like 'a concept' about how to get to the top. There were several times we wondered, do we go left, right or ? We decided that the map was made to test your faith...  After the hike, we bought some Fruitcake in exchange for this free access to such a terrific location.

Oak savanna or oak grassland. Quite a few wildflowers. And Poison Oak keeps you on the trail!
